Outdoor Opportunities: Turn Physical Challenges into Creative Triumphs
Rising tides, salt air, acid rain, snow, and extreme temperatures are just some of the issues that challenge the outdoor living experience. Coastal Source has been living with these challenges for decades and has, as a result, evolved a complete range of innovative, high-performance audio and lighting products, engineered and manufactured to Defy the Elements™, so every outdoor space can reach its maximum creative potential.
Understanding the Environment
Before you can develop products that survive severe climate events, you must first determine how salt water, humidity, and high winds impact the performance and reliability of speaker housings and light fixtures. We test our products in the field and inside salt and UV chambers. We know which materials, technologies, and designs work in wet, windy, and salty environments.
Born Out of Necessity
Decades ago, our design installation team struggled to find products that could handle the harsh coastal weather.
We knew we needed better, higher-quality outdoor light fixtures and speakers, so Coastal Source was born. Since then, what once was a niche market has skyrocketed into one of the fastest-growing segments of the integration industry.
When our integrators identify a need in lighting and outdoor audio, we go to work to develop a solution. Our commitment to R&D keeps us ahead of climate change and the competition.
Innovations That Keep Us Ahead
• Modular lighting. Integrators can detach a module containing all the technology and circuitry. A new module snaps back in place, streamlining maintenance and reducing waste. As new modules are introduced, they can be snapped in to further optimize the system.
• Our speakers feature unique sealed enclosures to prevent water, moisture, and dirt from seeping into the circuitry. Strategically-placed, protected vents provide high quality audio without compromise.
• Materials matter. Through rigorous field- and lab testing, we’ve determined the ideal materials to withstand heat, moisture, and other outdoor elements. Brass, extruded/machined aluminum, and specialty composites resist corrosion better than the commonly used and inexpensive cast aluminum.
• The heat is on. Heat build-up occurs when speakers are exposed to high temperatures and sunlight. Our unique internal heat syncing technology allows internal heat generated by the speaker drivers to be efficiently conducted to the outside.
• Sustainability and eco-friendly designs, required. Our plug-and-play installation architecture, combined with the use of recyclable materials and low power consumption, keep our outdoor systems as green as possible.
Coastal Source is your unmatched resource for high-performance outdoor lighting and audio products that empower the most creative solutions in the most challenging outdoor living environments.
